Most commonly used to update news articles and other content that changes quickly, RSS feeds may also include audio files (PodCasts) or even video files (VodCasts). People interested in the podcast can subscribe to get the most recent episodes. RSS feeds work the same way for podcasts that they do for blogs the feed is updated with the podcast’s most recent episodes at the top. It’s a power feature especially for an app that is otherwise very straightforward and focused.
When a user subscribes to your feed, he/she is instantly given access to all the content within said feed without visiting your main website. This addition makes Google Podcasts a more suitable player for more people. The primary purpose of an RSS feed, be it for a podcast of blog feed, is to make distribution much easier for the end-user. Google says this “means you can now listen to more podcasts, including premium shows.” Some podcasts offer exclusive feeds to paying supporters. On the web app, the navigation drawer features a new “Add by RSS Feed” option. Additions will sync across sign-in devices.

To start, navigate to “Activity” in the bottom bar of the mobile client, and then the “Subscriptions” tab at the right. Google is now letting you add any podcast via its RSS feed. Closely aligned with Search, this strategy made sense. Since launch, Google Podcasts has only surfaced shows that podcasters submitted for inclusion in its directory. Last month, Google Podcasts hit 50 million installs on the Play Store, and it’s now letting you “Add by RSS feed” across all platforms.
